Ititnerary in Details:
DAY 01: HANOI - MAI CHAU - MAI HICH
Transfer: minibus 3.5 hours.
In the morning, drive along a mountain road to the Western Tonkin which is home to the Muong and Thai ethnic minorities. Make a few stops along the way to visit tea fields, Luong Son market, and ethnic villages with stilt houses.
Have lunch with a Thai family in the village of Ban Lac.
In the afternoon, visit Ban Lac before driving 4 miles to Ban Cum. From here, take a 2 hour walk around different villages inhabited by the Thai at the foot of the mountains. Upon arrival in Mai Hich village located on a high mountain overlooking a lush valley of rice and vegetables, settle in a beautiful wooden house on stilts and meet the hosts. Have dinner and spend the night with the host family. (The house is equipped with mattresses, mosquito net and a shower with hot water). Overnight at local ethnic homestay
DAY 02: MAI HICH
3 hours of walking.
Begin the morning exploration with a walk to Ban Buoc on a flat road along the Na Lum River, passing through several Thai villages as well as agricultural fields where corns, vegetables and rice are grown. Arrive in the village of Ban Buoc at noon. Enjoy lunch in a Thai family.
Travel by minibus to return the Mai Hich village. Spend the rest of the day exploring the village at your leisure. Overnight at local ethnic homestay
DAY 03: MAI CHAU - THIEN HA - TAM COC
Transfer: minibus 4 hours
After breakfast, travel to Tam Coc,a region often referred to as “Ha Long Bay on land”. Stop mid-way at Nho Quan to enjoy lunch. Then, visit the most amazing Galaxy cave.
Take a 2 hour boat trip to observe daily lives of those living in the Red River Delta. And enjoy a biking tours to the lusch countryside
Arrive late afternoon, settling into Tam Coc Garden, a charming resort located in the middle of rice fields and limestone peaks.
Enjoy free time at the hotel. You can choose from various activities, including relaxing beside the pool, walking around the village near the hotel or taking a bike ride from the hotel to the Tam Coc Cave, Jade Caves or the Temple of Thai Vi. Take a cooking class in the late afternoon.
Spend the night at the Tam Coc Horizon Retreat.
DAY 04: TAM COC - BICH DONG PAGODA
Spend the day exploring the most beautiful sites in the area. You can choose from a variety of activities including boarding a sampan on the Ngo Dong River past a sea of limestone peaks, visiting the Thai Vi Temple dedicated to the King under the Tran Dynasty and hiking to the Jade Caves (Bich Dong).
Enjoy the rest of the day in the tranquill ambience of Tam Coc Horizon Retreat .
Spend the night at Tam Coc Horizon Retreat.
DAY 05. TAM COC - CAT BA ISLAND - AO COI VILLAGE
Transfer: minibus 4:0 hours. After breakfast, depart for Lan Ha Bay. The Bay, covering an area of 1,553 km2, is home to no less than 1969 islands with only 989 named. Arrive at the Catba island around noon time. Lunch at The Mangrove Cafe and Restaurant. Afternoon, embark on the traditional boat with to explore the green mangrove forests and Thien Long cave known as Dragon cave.
This is time to explore the Bay in the middle unique and awe-inspiring scenery. Participate in a variety of recreational activities such as swimming or go kayaking. Have dinner and spend the night at Cabalina Grove on Cat Ba Island.
DAY 06: AO COI VILLAGE - LAN HA BAY - CAI BEO FLOATING VILLAGE
DAY 07: LAN HA BAY - HANOI
08:00 am: Pick up at Hotel in Cat Ba Town and transfer to Ben Beo pier.
08:30 am: Board the classic authentic junk and cruise out to our neighborhood floating village. Witness everyday life of local fishermen. Kayak to visit Tay Keo Cave Lagoon (tide dependent).
11:30 am: Lunch on-board, then relax and swim on secluded beaches. Snorkels are available upon request.
01:00 pm: Cruise toward Three Peaches Island, which is famous for crystal waters and secluded beaches. Excellent place for swimming Temple beach before going back to the Junk. Cruise back to Ben Beo pier.
03:00: Stop to visit an oister farm and interact with local fishermen at their floating fishing farmstay and enjoy a another kayaking tour to explore the life on water of local fishermen
05:00 pm: Arrive at Eco Floating Farmstay Cai Beo. Overnight at authentic local floating farmstay Cai Beo
DAY 07: LAN HA BAY - HANOI
Following breakfast at Eco Floating Farmstay. Time to explore the local life of fishermen with our guide to interact and understand better the life on water of this population. Disembark at noon. Have lunch at Ladybird Cafeteria to enjoy the local specialities and drive back to Hanoi. Stop along the way to visit the But Thap pagoda.
Arrive in Hanoi around 17:30 p.m.
