About kayaking in the area.

Imagine a place with thousands of lime formations rising out of the water...this is the World Heritage Listed Halong Bay, where there are thousands of perfectly formed beaches, little bush covered islands, sheltered lagoons, and sea caves. An absolute paradise for kayakers and nature lovers of all kinds, kayaking Cat Ba and Ha Long will provide you with a treasure trove of memories that will last a lifetime.

Kayaks for rent in the area:

Apart from the heavy home-made fiberglass boats that are perfectly suited for beginners, BlueSwimmer Adventures is offering a new fleet of true single sea kayaks made in South Africa for those who like a bit more active paddling or who want to venture further out into the sea.

Independent Kayaking - No itinerary:

* 1hr test paddling: $3

Suggestion: Come to our workshop at BenBeo pier for a test paddle to make sure you have the right kayak for you. Test paddles are free of charge, so if afterwards you feel you're not up to the adventure, there's no cost involved.

* Half day: $8. (9am-12pm or 2pm-5pm)

Suggestion: beaches such as Hai Pies, Cat Dua, Cat co 1,2,3 or Nam Cat

* Full-day: $12 (9am - 5pm)

Suggestion: paddle the calm waters of Lan Ha Bay

   Guided kayak/camp 2 day.

   Kayak/hike Overnight aboard a Junk 2 day.

   Guided kayak/camp optional hike/bike/sail 3 day.

Our fleet of sea kayaks:

  • Recycled Plastic Skimmer single touring kayak. Made in South Africa.

All kayaks are fitted with:

  • Adjustable foot operated rudder, (rear seat on doubles).
  • Adjustable foot rests.
  • Closed cell foam seat.

  • Bulkheads.
  • Carry handles.
  • Deck lines and bungies for securing deck items.

Paddling & safety equipment provided:

* For individual:

  • 1 piece touring paddle.
  • Paddling jacket.
  • Spray deck.

* For group:

  • Bilge pump.
  • Water proof map.


Safety equipments



Suggestions on what to bring with you:

  • Strong plastic bags for packing personal gear.
  • Polypro underwear is best with warm fleece top. Long sleeved shirts are a good idea for summer when the sun is very strong. Avoid cotton T’s when possible.
  • Hat, Sunscreen & Sunglasses.
  • Insect Repellent.
  • Rain coat.
  • Towel.
  • Light walking shoes/ sandals.
  • Water bottle.
  • Warm clothes to change into after paddling including.
  • Trousers, long sleeve top and fleece top, socks.

Other things for over night camping based trips:

  • Toiletries and any personnel medication.
  • First aid kit, Torch.
  • Toilet paper.
  • Water Bottle.
  • Sleeping bag / Sleeping Mat.
  • Tent unless in a hut.

Food including lots of snacks.
